UD4U is an L3C company, which means that it straddles the line between being a non-profit and a functioning LLC. It allows us to go after a small number of grants from foundations, but doesn't allow us access to the majority of the funding that is provided to nonprofits. The trade off, however, is that it allows us to collect private investments from individuals and other corporations as well. These investments and donations are vital to our survival by helping us keep the lights on and deal with overhead costs and such. We are always looking for new research project ideas or individuals with ideas for their community.
